Blackjack Strategy

When it comes to being at the tables or even just playing online blackjack, using a strategy often allows people to feel more confident when it comes to playing. Even though you don't know what way the deck is layered, it is important to know what the best way to beat the dealer is.

Remember, card counting is awfully hard to do online and casinos frown upon it, so this should never be something that you do when you're inside a casino. You want to make sure that you're playing fair each and every time you play.

Basic Blackjack Strategy for Beginners

• Surrender 15 against the dealer with a 10
• Surrender 16 if the dealer has a 9 through an Ace
• Never split any tens
• Always split Aces that you get
• Always split 8's
• Always stand on soft 20
• Double soft 19 against dealer if they have a 6
• Always hit on 8
• Always double on 11
• Always stand on 17 or anything higher
• Stand against dealer showing 2-6; hit against 7-Ace
• Always split low pairs (2s-7s) against a dealer's card under 7; otherwise hit

There is a lot that goes into the strategy of the game. You need to know when to stand, when to split and when to hit. Calling out during the game is generally frowned upon, so make sure you know what you have and what the dealer has. When the dealer's cards are low, but you have high numbers, you have a better chance of coming out with some cash.

If you're close to 21, then don't push it. Even if you think you're going to get a low number next, it is better to be safe than sorry. Oftentimes, people get too excited during gameplay and will take a hit, only to find out that the next card is too high and they bust. Don't make the mistake of becoming overwhelmed.

Playing blackjack is exciting and it offers a great time for those that want to get a bit more out of the casino. However, when playing in a casino, it is best to pay attention. Additionally, you want to make sure that while playing online, you check out free blackjack tournaments to practice, as it differs from the blackjack that is played in the casino and you'll want to know how to play.
