The cut card

The dealers uses a brightly colored plastic card which marks the point where the dealer reshuffles the deck(s) / shoe, and allows the player to cut the deck/shoe before dealing, and also prevents the bottom card of the deck(s) / shoe being exposed during play.

Double or double down

After a player has checked their hand, The player can Double by placing a extra bet that is equal to their original bet and then subsequently drawing one additional card. This move can only be used on the first two cards.

Even money

When a dealers shows an ace card and the players has a blackjack hand, the player can if they wish to opt for even money and they get paid immediately at 1:1. This is type of insurance and not a different bet. If the dealer reveals a blackjack, the hand is then a push, the player receives double payout of the value of the insurance, it is the same as the original bet. Should the dealer show not to have a blackjack, then the player will win 1.5 times the value of the original bet, however, will lose the value of the insurance, resulting in the value of the original bet.

First base

This is the betting spot that is located on the dealers left hand side, this is he one that is first to receive cards and also the first to act.

Natural

Getting a sum of 21 on the first and the second card, the same as blackjack, it’s sometimes called a "natural 21".

Penetration

This is a number or a fraction that is a representation of how many cards/decks will be dealt before a shuffle in contrast to the number of cards/decks in play. It might be expressed in percentage form or in fraction form where the denominator is the total number of decks in play, such as, "4.5/6" or a "75% penetration". Pitch game

This is any hard hand where there as a possibility of exceeding 21 when drawing an additional card.

Surrender

When a player surrenders their hand means that have abandoned their hand, at the same time recovering half of their initial bet.

Third base

This is the betting spot that is located on the dealer's right.

Upcard

That is the card that the dealer shows.
