Newbies/Idiots are players with no knowledge of the intricacies of even the basic strategies. They often bet a whim hoping for a good outcome.
The Flat Bettors
The flat bettors are players that bet the same amount every time, however, they do play the correct basic strategy for their hands.
The Progressive Bettors
Progressive Bettors play the basic strategy, plus they raise and lower the bets based on the results of their previous hand
The Card counters
Card Counters are players who raise or lower their bet which is based on the number of high or low cards that remain in the deck(s).
Discounting the newbies / idiots, who account for about 35% of the players, the other three types put in a serious amount of effort to understand the game and win. Most of the basic strategy players are found to be either flat bettors or progressive bettors. A small minority of players have mastered card counting.

Progressive betting can often be superior to flat betting, and can also be more profitable to card counting.
Progressive Betting
Progressive betting is when players start off placing a bet and then they progressively increase their betting amount until they hit a point where they stop. An example, The Player starts off placing a $10 bet on their first hand, then they bet $20, $30, $40, and $50. Once The player has placed his $50 bet, he can decide go back to the $10 and start over again.
Understanding how progressive betting works, we can do a bit of math to show how it affects winnings. When betting on five blackjack hands using a fixed method of betting, players can win $50. Blackjack players know wins in blackjack come in streaks. The $50 on fixed betting is nice but what happens when using a progressive blackjack betting. Using the progressive Blackjack betting method the winnings would have been $150. a nice day at the casino. There is also the chance of losing all five hands. By using a progressive style of betting, players can increase their chances of winning more money,than fixed betting.
